Spore Ingestion: Larvae ingest Bt spores along with plant material.
Spore Activation: In the larval gut, spores dissolve, releasing protein crystals.
Protoxin Activation: Gut enzymes convert crystals to active Bt toxins.
Binding: Toxins bind to midgut cells, forming pores.
Cell Lysis: Pores cause cell membranes to burst, disrupting digestion.
Death: Starvation and death follow.
Application:
Gardening: 5-10 ml per liter of water.
Agriculture: 1-2 liters per acre.
Precautions:
Apply 2-3 days before chemical pesticides for effective control of young larvae.
Optimal application temperature is above 18°C; best results are achieved when spraying in the evening or at temperatures above 30°C.
